(i) Clearance of Live insects, microbial cultures
including mushroom or bio-control agents:
The Accompanied documents in respect of Import of Live insects/ Fungi /Bio control
agents shall be scrutinized to ensure the imports are covered by a special permit
issued by the Plant Protection Advisor to the Government of India (PPA) and shall
be allowed to be imported only through specified point of entry. Further the packages
were inspected to ensure the seals are intact and not damaged during the transport
and are cleared to the actual importer under intimation to the Plant Protection
Advisor to the Government of India (PPA). Incase of illegitimate imports the same
shall be destroyed by incineration under intimation to the importer and the same
brought to the notice of the Plant Protection Advisor to the Government of India
(PPA) .
(ii) Clearance of Germplasm, Transgenic or Genetically Modified Organisms:
The accompanied documents in respect of import of Germplasm, Transgenic, Genetically
Modified Organisms shall be scrutinized to ensure the imports are covered by a special
permit issued by the Director, National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR),
New Delhi and shall be allowed import only through specified point of entry. Further
the packages were inspected to ensure the seals are intact and not damaged during
the transport and no imported consignments of plant Germplasm, transgenic or genetically
modified organisms shall be opened at the point of entry and it shall be forwarded
to the Director, NBPGR, New Delhi for import clearance. The import clearance shall
be accorded only by Director, NBPGR, New Delhi after carrying out relevant tests
in respect of Germplasm, Transgenic or Genetically Modified if found to be free
from quarantine pests and if found to be infected/ infested with quarantine pests
the same shall be destroyed by incineration under intimation to importer and the
same brought to the notice of the Plant Protection Advisor to the Government of
India. Incase of illegitimate imports the same shall be destroyed by incineration
under intimation to the importer and the same brought to the notice of the Plant
Protection Adviser to the Government of India.
